WaterSpeak
WaterSpeak is a community science program PPA launched in partnership with scientists at Brown University’s Institute for Environment and Society. For six months participants will learn about collecting water, air and soil samples and work together to develop the power to push for environmental justice in communities near the Port.
We build this power through strengthening relationships among community members, validating our lived experiences, building collective knowledge, and inspiring each other to influence political, social and economic decisions that impact our lives. We use science as a tool to get the attention of elected officials and other decision makers.
Our ultimate goal is to build power to fight for environmental justice in our neighborhoods, our state, and beyond. Through WaterSpeak, we connect with our own experiences and each other while learning what science can tell us about our environment. We are currently focusing on the CROWS Landing, also known as the Public Street Right of Way.

How toxic is this place? Is it safe to be here?
Who is responsible for polluting this place? And who is responsible for making it safer and more healthy for community members to use?
